Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Make sure you take your Vacation time!

If you are in Minneapolis, make sure you use your vacation time before you quit. They apparently don’t pay out unused vacation anymore for several states that allow it? Just learned from my friend that got out and lost a week.

I read the HR vacation policy. Under the Termination section, if your job is eliminated and you receive severance, you will be paid for earned, but unused vacation. You earn 1/12th of your total yearly vacation each month.

Careful. If you have a negative PTO balance, they will "charge" you for it and take it out of your final paycheck.

Because we accrue PTO each pay period and have a "use it or lose it" policy, you are forced to use at least some of your PTO in December. Otherwise, you risk having your final pay garnished if you're fired or you quit.

I'm in a state where they don't suppose to pay out, but they paid my unused vacation.

California, Colorado and Montana are the only states that REQUIRE a vacation pay out. It does not include My Holiday or sick. Sick of course is allowed an 80 hours per year rollover.

Some teams take the vacation pay out from your bonus so watch out.

@c9 apparently he wasn’t aware of the change. So just wanted to tell people if they were not aware.

@c3 they changed that a couple of years ago. They no longer pay out unused vacation unless you live in a state that requires it. I think there are 6-8 states that require it but the majority does not, MN being one that does not require unused vacation be paid when leaving
