Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Protect yourself

I can't emphasize enough the importance of documenting everything. I was a top performer and they still tried to push me out without severance. Paperwork saved me. So make sure to keep records of everything. Emails, feedback, literally everything you can think of.

You can sue a company for pushing you out to avoid paying severance if you can prove constructive discharge, where working conditions were made so intolerable that a reasonable person would feel forced to resign. While severance is generally not required by federal law, it becomes a legal issue if the company violates a contract, promises it in a policy, or acts illegally to avoid it.

Can you be more detailed on what exactly saved you? Did you bring it to a department head? HR?
