Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

A bit of a late post but here it goes

I was cut after 15 years at Centene. I was in a specialized department and fully expected to retire there, but corporate decided our roles are likely being outsourced. Shoutout to our director for actually being VERY transparent about it instead of bullsh-tting all of us. The exit package was $56k, 8 months of COBRA, and 3 months of career placement help (for most of us it's useless)... it felt pretty fair and I signed the docs... now it's time to look for the next thing

I’m not sure what you mean by this. Is this some kind of rage bait?

Please lets be technical here !!! No company is required by law to give severance …. Now VSP is offering severance of 2 weeks per years of service and between 4 to 6 weeks pay additional for added benefits plus paying their part on employer health insurance premiums (we still have to pay our portion for the amount of months they will pay theirs) but depending on the state, since this is voluntary, will more than likely not get unemployment….. this is the important part ! If your state su-ks (Florida only pays 275 for 12 weeks), do the math !!! If your state pays premium unemployment benefits weekly for 26 weeks, ride the wave !!! Do not let them off easy !!! Let them do their job and paperwork and lay off because at least you may not be part of it and if you are, at least getting unemployment and also some severance, may not be 2 weeks per year, but at least will be 1 week as they do not want to look bad amongst their peers (competition) money is not power for these ppl, IT IS REPUTATION!!!! And they will not stand for let’s say MOLINA or UNITED, To be able to say, ohhhh Centene didn’t give severance !!!! Let’s make them do their jobs !!! They want us gone, so let them go do the dirty work !!! And if you know you have a case for a lawsuit, do not take any severance, talk to a lawyer, waive the severance and gut them

@OP since your title says "late post", does this mean you were cut before the VSP came out? Are you giving us a heads up of what a normal severance looks like without the enchanted VSP benefits?

It's not so much the lump sum that matters to most of us. How many years tenure did you have?
