Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Hiring for roles they just fired?

How can they lay off AMs, while turning around and immediately adding new AMs?

It seems like what might be really happening is CDW is trying to re-set the payroll with lower paid employees and foregoing the experience, expertise and customer relationships of AMs who were paid more competitively.

I’m sure that’s also happening in other departments.

What could go wrong?🤦🏻‍♂️

RIF-ing older coworkers allows them to clear larger salaries off the books while also lowering their insurance hit (older coworkers need more care than 20-somethings). They save on salary, insurance costs, knowledge of what the company once was (better), they have more leverage over job-hungry people than tenured coworkers, etc. It's the same reason they gave us 'FlexTO'. Just a way to remove liability off the books. Terrible.

Culture here is struggling. I know senior leaders read this. Actually do something about this. Stop being so outrageously and transparently greedy. Coworkers aren't making million dollar stock trades. We are regular people trying to get by. You hammer the sellers and then demand more of them. Back office getting hit. Tough.

Yes not just AMs but other depts. Now many of the replacement jobs haven't surfaced yet but eventually they will. For example they cut a seasoned and well paid Principal Solution Architect - eventually they'll add resources to cover- a cheaper SA. Who knows if CDW is looking to hire more cheaply overseas, just maybe.
