@xr No. When Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) vest, the value is taxed as ordinary income and must be reported by the employer on your W-2 form, not a 1099-MISC. A 1099-MISC is strictly used for independent contractor, freelance, or non-employee compensation.

@s7 if its the same thing, this was for rsu which for some reason they had to do separately.
Just fyi, I was in a previous layoff (fortunate enough to find an amazing new role but took several months) and one thing I saw come tax time was a very significant amount of money came in as a 1099-MISC like from game show winnings instead of normal salary wages in a W2. The only reason I can imagine is so the company wouldn’t have to pay their share of taxes on normal wages. I reached out and of course never heard back. If anyone else finds this or if there’s a lawsuit formed for this illegal activity across other folks, please reply here :)
Lol considering the fact that I said this company had a bunch of DEI hiring done during the 2020 period has aged like wine, non-stop layoffs after the first rounds in 2024 Aug. Can't believe people genuinely believed the tripe about "we won't have layoffs", its a business and you're a line item at the end of the day. You could easily forecast the layoffs based on stock price and quarterly financials for the last 3 years
Also to note - the "severance" is being handled completely impersonally - I got let go with a 10minute zoom 1-on-1 with my manager's boss, no HR representative... and a few automated emails from Docusign. I've been let go due to layoffs before, and was always offered counseling or ongoing help or communication from HR - but this time... nothing but form letters with my name inserted.
For a company that prides themselves on their "people", this layoff is very far from that.
Funny enough, when I was hired I was told that Five9 "has never done and will hopefully never do" layoffs - that they "valued every single employee"... and since then, there have been 6 rounds of layoffs. And from the sound of the threads here.. the layoff trend may continue.
@b8 right .. it 6 or 7 wave and all none performers . It just group by group . Last was Support , production enogering now . And below level five9 need to report as public company. Will guess it will keep going until it will be sold as Verint
the people let go from iaas, were non-performers or so D*ickerson claims
@OP anyone in the leadership like manager/ director etc in the layoff list?

Where is the naysayer whose posts are in the "CEO layoffs coming your way" topic?
