Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Be careful what you wish for

I was trying really hard to get laid off as my EU severance was considerable. I managed finally to get my hard earned money. I do not know what to do with it, just sitting now in bank and ETF fonds. And I have new job with 50% more salary and 20 times more work. Instead of doing minimum/nothing and have 2 hours of meetings per week, one with indian team I lead and other with American manager (who was also laid off recently), now I have to do 40 hours/week and quite often I do few more hours in evenings and weekends. No time to practice guitar anymore, while I worked at dxc I spent my working hours playing... I wish I could again have such a nice work like I had in DXC. If they are hiring, please let me know..

OP. Actually we are hiring, you are very welcome to join our team. But one small catch. You have to join as executive, get better pay, obviously do nothing, definitely play guitar, even to the customers if they like and travel in business class.

Are you ready?

If you're working more hours than you're paid for, that's a skill issue on your part tbh

I think this is DXC's plan. They hope people will just quit. But for many who've been in this situation for years, and feel that the end is so close despite what they say.... You'd kick yourself for resigning this week and finding all your colleagues got a VR package in August. So we stay on, and just try and make it fail sooner! The company has no clue! But if that's what they want. I can wiggle my mouse all day whilst doing other things...

Yes, in short term it is pretty cool. But after a year your mind starts to rot. Not because you have time for hobbies - but because the brain knows you are still at job, you never fully relax nor concentrate on side hustles. Furthermore, this kind of job deskills a lot. You go out of DXC more stupid than you were, and this creates much worse problems. Also, any knowledge obtained at DXC is usually non-transferable.

You've quickly forgotten how soul destroying doing nothing, achieving nothing can be. DXC has made me totally devalue what I can do. I used to care. Not anymore.
