Enhanced severance for legacy DFS ends at the end of Q2 2027. From what I have read, the legacy severance plan pays the same regardless if reason is restructuring or poor performance. Regular COF severance for poor performance is only 12 weeks. So do we all try to get low ratings/put on PIPs during annual review cycle? I’m trying to hold onto hope I will be laid off because I also happen to be remote, but every day I hate my job and this company more and more

Capone will destroy itself the computer integration is a nightmare and will cause many outages. It’s a nightmare along with ongoing regulatory compliance issues. It won't survive.
@g9 true but restructuring layoffs will continue too. I know of several teams that are still doing legacy DFS work, and when that is all tied up it’s not gonna matter when in the performance cycle they are no longer needed.
These are not layoffs. They are firings of employees based on trumped up stsck rankings.
@f7 you’re experience will prob be different than mine. I am only a COF employee bc of their acquisition of Discover(DFS). Legacy DFS employees are like the unwanted step children and we’ve been waiting for 2 years now to see if we will be cut in the next round of layoffs. A great number of us are remote and COF has stated they want to get back to their very low goal remote percentage. Remote is also an unwanted stepchild lol. Performance management is a sh-t show either way tho but you won’t have to deal with that until annual reviews probably where you are pitted against your peers. If you have any legacy DFS coworkers just expect they probably are unhappy and at pretty high risk of being laid off.
I start with Capital One this coming Monday at the McLean office, what the heck am I walking in to? My wife is staying behind in Florida in the event the job isn’t what was discussed during the interview process. I have no issue quitting after 2 months and going back home.
I did resign end of May, got a job. Loved Discover, now everyone is in bad mood and uncertainty. Sad to see. Was an excellent performer and was promoted, had to go another team where manager hardly had any skills and work was total meaningless. So, switching was easy. Thank God.
Job market is bad. It's much easier to get a job when you have a job. Therefore, do the baseline to keep your job and don't get anyone angry. Be prepared for the worst This is pure abuse. Don't overshare with coworkers. Don't put yourself on a PIP either to get fired. Thesecare not layoffs they're firings
