@c6 I heard we were going to pole climbing school years ago, I pictured some of the morbidly obese or elderly coworkers and thought it would never happen and it did not happen.
@c2 I’ve been hearing about universal tech for 30 years. It probably won’t happen again this time. It requires training everyone in every job. Not gonna happen.
Get ready for Universal Tech after the dust settles
@af why would you be miffed at the Union Guys? We’re not laying you off.
There is no union contract once verizon goes out of business
@ak I remember every central office had a supervisor some had two, now they have 30 or so, lucky for me I am at the end of my career and what ever happens is ok with me.
This will not happen all at once, prepare for a slow grinding consolidation and elimination of associates and management. I would think this will be the norm over the next 4 years of the contract.
Not true, in fact nobody from Network operations are being let go on July 16th.
All the people bracing for impact are a bit miffed at the union guys because by this time tomorrow you'll be gone and the unionized employees will keep on keeping on
@ad Contractors are less expensive then employees, just sayin
Get rid of all upper management and contractors just think how much money you’ll save. Keep a couple directors that’s all you need in management.
PNW consolidated under one Director for a reason. Huge impact coming to FE’s and AD’s- 15 FE’s minimum under one AD. Older FE’s - over 60 are being targeted- even those in senior support positions.
Buckle up it’s going to be a sh-t show.
@a2 yup. And agree that most of the legacy workers won’t be around for that. Or shouldn’t be around, unless they are still waiting for that magical offer
@a2 this is gonna get interesting .The company is modernizing the network by replacing legacy eqpt and old copper plant. Of course resulting in fewer positions. Even with "technological change" . The company would have to negotiate any jobs title changes with the unions.Well 1st thing theyll do is offer EISPs. Then reorg.
@a6 ummm,ok. Like there is no way around a contract. Language is everything in a contract, there are workarounds as someone previously has stated.
@a2 the title won’t go away, they will just surplus the whole title, and eipp/transfer those techs.
@OP horse manure!!! Pure one fresh from produce!!!! Union has a contract!!! Try again
Eliminating job titles will have to be negotiated with the union..maybe next contract but alot of the legacy workers won't be around for that
What titles?
