Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Internal system

Layoff decisions should not rely solely on manager recommendations. They should also be supported by objective data from internal systems, including actual work completed, project contributions, performance metrics, and productivity. Using verifiable data alongside manager feedback can help ensure a fair and transparent process and reduce the risk of incorrect decisions.

Your manager is not making the decision, it is happening much much higher up the org chart. It is someone who has no idea who you are or what you do. These decisions are made as line items on spreadsheet.
