Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Active, ongoing commission fraud lawsuit

Did you know that CDW is currently being sued in Cook County, Illinois for wage theft, commission fraud, and unlawful pay structures? Check out Long v. CDW Government LLC, Case No. 2025L007458.

Long alleges that during the hiring and onboarding process “Coworker Success” (what an Orwellian name) and management and leadership presented misleading parameters regarding how commissions were calculated, tracked, and distributed. While we was employed Long asserts that CDW hid the true calculations and unlawfully reduce his commissions by applying unlawful structures without sellers’ knowledge.

If you’re in a sales role at CDW, I highly recommend you research the facts of this case. I’ve heard many similar stories at CDW, but most never make it to a filing because pays terminated employees minimal severance to secure a release of claims and NDA.

The GTM, in my view, was designed this way to avoid payouts as a loop hole. It is now a bonus structure for AE, as well as the sales op roles that were created. Bonus also can be taken away at anytime as well due to company performance as we have already seen with holiday bonus. CE still make commissions and that can be changed as well, because it has every year. When explaining the bonus structure, it was explained well by some at first. Others did not becausenthey didnt understand. I understood it because of prior jobs outside the company. I have remained stagnant in my pay for years due to commissions, and I cannot complain as it helps my family. If right now, its helping you survive and live. Stay until you find a job you want. But for now start looking. The su-k ups at CDW are telling others to stay put because of the job market, but the su-k ups are the ones who are protected. So they can say that until they get let go too, and eating their words for dinner.

@cm it’s written entirely by ChatGPT I read it. He’s representing himself for a $2k pay discrepancy lol

Long built a case that survived CDW’s motion to dismiss as a self-represented plaintiff. His demonstrated ability to navigate a complex, bureaucratic legal system without an attorney proves that he is certainly not an id--t.

Read the commission policy it’s very enlightening. Commissions are all considered unearned during your employment. It’s an advance and can be clawed back at any time. It’s a really fun policy and definitely not disgusting.

@OP I can’t say I’m surprised by CDW’s deception. After ten years of strong performance and consistent merit increases, the company reduced my salary by more than 15% last year. That cut pushed my compensation back to its 2019 level, effectively erasing the value of every accomplishment and merit increase I earned since then. The company has become a major disappointment. I’m working on transitioning out, but for now I’m staying because it’s what I need to do to keep the bills paid.

Been with cdw for awhile, alot of us have complained over and over that there is a lack of transparency with commissions.

Incredible but not surprising.

Everyone laid off should attempt to sue and recover even the smallest amount they are rightfully owed. The legal pressure on CDW is high and if increased the chances of settling increase.

Either we fight or we all get laid off sooner or later. For those already laid off - I wouldn't hate to see some gofundmes. Every dollar sent your way could mean $2 back to me in rightfully paid commissions which I'll otherwise sue for.

@OP Good to know, thanks! I received a new variable comp structure in January that was never documented or explained. Once us dolts figured it out on our own after 5 months of delayed payouts, it is now being changed again on August 1 and not for the better. I place a greater priority on work-life balance vs maximum payout so my level of effort is also variable. I am sticking it out as there has to be light at the end of the tunnel and I enjoy working for the clients.
