Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

@a3 Yes, this! My husband has been with the company for 20+ years. It is our livelihood. At his age, it will be more difficult to find a job that offers the same benefits and pay. He had to restart after one layoff 20 years ago and to think it may happen again is a huge deal. My heart goes out to all those being let go.

@a3 You are so right. It does turn your world upside no matter what. We know it's just work but some people actually like what they do. Decent pay and benefits are important too. Sure you probably will be just fine if you plan accordingly but starting over is a PIA and you may find something better in the long run. There is a lot to process when it happens to you. So it is a big deal for most people.

@a3 do not buy more than you can afford to pay and you should be fine anywhere else. Have emergency funds...previous poster is correct. This is just work....if you are smart you would know how to always be prepared for moments like this because you know what? It just a freaking job and you do not own the biz so as long as you work for somebody else then you are just a number....

I left in 2024…layoffs were only twice a year at most before then and it was a stressful environment. Can’t even begin to imagine it now. Thoughts are with you. But, if you are impacted, once you can break free and cleanse yourself of Verizon, life will get better.

@a2 This work pays for my mortgage, car, and other regular expenses plus it provides health insurance for my wife and children. For me, losing this is much more than "just work."

@OP you got bigger issues then. Please seek help..seriously brother/sister...life goes on, there is always a tomorrow. This is just work..
