Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hello from a December layoff

Hello to my fellow 'soon to be ex' V-Teamers. I was laid off in Dec 2025 with a role of Sr. Technical Project Manager (6V). Unfortunately, with all of the lay offs, in VZ and elsewhere, finding a new job has been next to impossible. Both my severance and pitifully small unemployment have both been exhausted. The LHH service they set up for us did not help me in the slightest. I say this not to scare you, well, maybe a little, but to tell you you need to set reasonable expectations. You are most likely going to be in this for the long haul. For those left behind, continue to create as much of a nest egg as you can because you are most likely going to need in when the next round of lay offs happen.

Good luck and God Bless.

I was affected in Nov as well. Luckily I found job 3 months later and was able to keep/ not spend any of my severance. Im in accounting/fpna but applied to 100s of jobs and only a handful of interviews.

I was a Dec exit and am still looking too, so I don't have magic advice. I've done 3 things: 1) used LHH for the webinars, which were helpful - I watched several about 3x each. I also got my baseline resume revised by my coach, which was a great starting point. 2) used Udemy to upskill. After reading loads of job descriptions for your area you'll see which skills are in demand. 3) I use Claude to see how well I align with any JD, so I don't apply to jobs that are out of reach. Claude also customizes my resume for each application, and for help with some cover letters. Best of luck to you all.

I think LHH is what you make of it . I had a great coach and I liked their webinars . You have to take the group learnings first , and work with your coach to be forwarded to a 1:1 person to look at your resume and make suggestions and 1:1 person for interview prep and searching . If nothing else, the activities are proof for unemployment payment requirements.

Agree with all above. LHH isn't worth a thing. Have applied for about 450 jobs, no time to sit back and relax when you're done. You have to be at it immediately.

Notified in November '25, last day on book February '26 and I will say this - is it a job searcher's market? No. But it's still very much what you make of it. Hustle, don't spray and pray, be precise and you will find new employment sooner than later. I've had 4 offers since my last day and just chose one recently.

I agree with OP. LHH is a joke and at times they are very rude as well. I didn’t like them at all. None of their resources are helpful either. We are better or wirh Chat GPT or Gemini or even Claude. For upskilling YT is the best. So many resource to grab and learn. All the best guys. I also got indicated in Nov and still in the market. All consulting opportunities are paid less and expect you to dive 50-60 miles each way all 5 days. That’s insane amount of travel time, tolls and gas expenses. We won’t make any money but these greedy consulting companies earn more than us who is working like donkeys.

LHH js complete garbage and a waste of your time

Severance is standard and based on your years of service. 2 weeks for every year, and health insurance is subsidized during that time. Phone plan discounts, bonuses, and RSUs may or may not be paid, check the layoff website. A smaller severance means you were with the company for a shorter period of time.

LHH is garbage and a massive waste of time. ChatGPT is infinitely more helpful.

Despite what the government may be saying, the job market is dog water. AI has ruined online applications, both companies and job seekers are using it, and no one is getting hired. 35% of online applications will completely ghost you, 64% will auto-reject you, and only 1% will reach a
real person.

You will absolutely need to network to find a job.

Good luck!
