Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

It should read skills don't matter - only being logged in matters. Clients don't want DXC to actually change anything. They like the feeling someone knows about their systems. But when we're not allowed to touch them or access them unless there's a problem it's hard to see how anyone can expect us to remember something from a couple of years ago. I'm sure there are better and more cost effective ways for them to run their business, but while they have DXC to blame - we're paid to do just sit and wait. Great money for nothing - just don't ask me to fix anything urgent past midday today!

I got a call from a friend asking if I wanted a job in his team. I had no interview and he said if anyone asks then just say "so and so" interviewed you. Wasn't even qualified.

That's the way the world works. Most of the jobs I were offered were through connections (former colleagues/friends). I recommend you keep in touch with former colleagues.
