Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Dan is simply stripping the company and preparing it to be sold

Seen this a hundred times. Massive layoffs, but useless mid manager and c-suites are mostly retained. No real stock value injection attempted.

It is a tired strategy, one used on so many brands in the past. The goal is not to bring the company back to its former glory. The goal eventually is to shop to other rising companies.

Verizon lost. T-Mobile handed us our hats.

@b9 stocks will be worth a fraction of what they once was. Conversion or buyout will cost new ownership little, but last I saw Blackrock and Vangaurd owned so.ethibg like 15 to 20% so that will help.

People think this is far fetched but Stripe is getting ready to buy PayPal.. Dan is dropping on all 4s wearing his bday suit hoping Elon picks him but we know if starlink buys a telecom it will be Tmo never Verizon. Dan will destroy this companies morale to levels that will never recover. We are done. If you survived go look for a better job

How do the stock buybacks fit into this theory?

No one in their right mind would buy VZ. Too much debt and massive pension obligations.

Also, wireless is incredibly capital intensive (spectrum + network plant). If 6 or 7yee ever comes, its a capital cycle that keeps feeding itself.

In terms of consumer devices, massive amounts of working capital that sit on the books.

The future is NOT bright. They want to act like its 1997 bt the growth cycle is over. Its a race to the bottom.

Best case, pieces of the business are spun off or they totally gut it and we just become a network operator (almost like what they aspired Visible to be).

“ thats not relevant. In market economics, product creates the demand. The product is not available yet, but once it is that fact will bring about potential buyers.

So it is too early to tell. Dan's job is to position the company as favorably as possible in the meantime. That means lay offs, minimization of CAPEX outlays and a myriad other things”

This guy sounds like he has Dans c@#k in his mouth

@a6 it amazes me how many people in telecom dont realize they are ripe for getting disrupted. They sit there and mock Elon or the idea when its right in front of their face and they refuse to beleive it.

Should of kicked Dan to the curb and put Nick Jeffries in place. At least Nick can turn failing companies around.

Buying Verizon like buying a fixer upper house . Happens everyday . It needs work , and has good foundation ,that’s where the value is , and a bigger company with deeper pockets could clean house , restructure the debt and add wireless to their portfolio of services . Amazon, Google, Space X , Meta, others ?

OP is right ! Verizon being made smaller to be bought by a bigger company . Think about who would be interested in getting into wireless industry, it’s a short list but there is one

To mo--n who doesnt think Elon and Starlink are going to be a major disruption to telecommunications, your bitter political opinions dont change the reality of the situation. Starlink has been running for years and it has proven to be reliable. Now Amazon is jumping in on the game too. Covering your eyes and ears and saying Elon Bad doesnt change reality.

With the amount of debt Verizon currently has I find this unlikely.
