Does anyone know or from last round know this. If you take the severance, for example if I get paid out for 20 weeks, do I still qualify for six months unemployment or will it be six months minus the 20 weeks that Verizon paid me severance for?

Just to clarify that in NJ the severance is not counted toward state unemployment benefits.
In CA you are able to get the lump sum severance and unemployment.

In my state it says it depends on how Verizon words the severance agreement.
If you are in PA, then they hold back your unemployment due to your severance. They do some calculations and then they will tell you when you are eligible. You won’t get right away

In New Jersey, you can apply and start collecting unemployment benefits right away, even if you received a lump sum severance package
Unemployment office will tell you but I had to wait out the time of my severance before I could get unemployment. I know someone else who did an appeal and won but I had to wait. I was employed by that time so I never got unemployment
