Does anyone find that they really don’t care about their jobs or careers anymore. It just seems so small . it pays the bills etc but in the grand scheme of things all the politics attached to a paycheck job just seems so out of touch. With all that’s going on in the world this really does not seem to be how people should be living out their lives

This just isn’t worth the hassle anymore. One of the most f’n up platforms I have ever experienced. Regionals are paying better anyway and they have platforms that actually work. Here, it’s just one confusion after another. Been a decade+ of it. I hate this dump.
@z9 wish that were enough to just get your job done . Some teams if you don’t pretend to care about the office game , that gets you penalized
Surprising for so many the office and their careers are their identities and are the only space where they have connections of any sort. So many are all about the office intrigue , who’s moving up , who’s not in the boss’s good books , name dropping execs to show their higher up connections. Like who gaf? Today’s corporate employee is the equivalent of a factory line worker .
My focus shifted from moving up the corporate ladder to performing slightly beyond expectations while staying within a 40hr week to remain employed for 10-15 more years (then early retirement). Not much desire to take on more responsibility - the goal is to get the job done and keep the work week contained to 40hrs or less + use every paid time off benefit to the max (vacation/personal/sick/holidays/Sabbatical) and enjoy life - not let my career be my identity.
My office is a gutted shell of its former self now, very sad place to be. We used to be a great team that produced the best results in our division. Now, it’s just sad. Nobody cares anymore, most are ready to retire, it’s just dead. I like the bank, but my location is the worst I have ever encountered in my entire career. No backfilling, no connection anymore to each other, honestly no sense of purpose other than a paycheck and to be left alone as much as possible.
The work by itself is ok but add in all the corporate-y bs you have to deal with because of the toxic managers makes it a he** hole. They encourage division within their teams . I had a manager imply that I was jealous of a colleague who is climbing the corporate ladder during mid year reviews. Never once thought of comparing myself with that individual so don’t know where that idea came from. Assuming the manager just made it up to create bad blood and maybe encourage people to quit.
I actually like my job and my managers. I think wpe is complete bs and I could care less about the managers above my bosses. We are so short handed lately that if they made threats it would just be shooting themselves in the foot. I'm just making my way to retirement at this point.
Been that way for a while.
But BoA knew this was coming when they decided upon an oppositional relationship with their workforce and I'm happy to oblige.
