Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Any one from Sales or Customer retention - What is the Churn of Customers in Oracle in recent days ?

There was a recent discussion in IBM's fall because of AI transformation. Do we have similar issues with Oracle ? more On-prem customers leaving Oracle because of Cloud adoption ? or we are able to successfully convert them ?

@aa Not on the healthcare side. Epic is taking customers across the board, including many of Oracle’s, even though the cost to switch is huge.

@cg It is extremely expensive to the customer. They can't afford an extended down time to switch over so the new environments need to be brought up in parallel. The cost doubling the size of your environment can be in the $10 of millions of dollars for larger corporations. A lot of these companies have DBs in the 100s of TB to EB (exabytes). All software needs to be validated and performance tested. Now you are supporting 2 development lines and are probably parallel loading data into multiple environments. I have worked on large migrations projects that had to be completed at multiple sites and it took huge teams years and the costs were in the 100s of million dollars. Are there cases that are simpler, of course but each case needs to be evaluated with ROIs of each possible option. The analysis alone can be expensive. This is a simple explanation, the actual details of even a simple migration are exhaustive. Missing a detail can cause downtime. Companies are very adverse to changes to mission critical environments.
AI could help reduce development and testing costs but there is far more going on then these items.

@at, Out of curiosity, how difficult it is to move from Oracle DB to a different RDBMS. Weblogic to a spring boot app ? What does the competitive advantage in AI era ?
How sales are holding the ground for Oracle without heavy churn ?

OP, talk to anyone who has worked in an enterprise environment about how hard it is to move off an established vendors products. It isn't a simple process and most companies will just continue to pay the price. They may drop some peripheral components but the core products and support are essential.

No churn at all. The customers are all captive.

It's small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, but my wife's SMB dumped NetSuite.
