Nebraska has enacted a new state law requiring employers with over 100 employees to provide 90 days' advance notice for mass layoffs or business closings. This legislation, known as the mini-WARN Act, defines specific criteria for what constitutes a mass layoff or business closing. The notice must include details about the affected site, contact information, the nature and schedule of the employment loss, and affected job titles. Employers can deliver notices via mail, email, or by posting them conspicuously, and remote employees are generally included in calculations. Exceptions exist for natural disasters or unforeseeable business circumstances, and the law takes effect July 18, 2026.
