Any one want to share about internally moving to a lateral position or higher? How is the process to tell the current manager that you want to move elsewhere ?

Don't even bother. It's as difficult as applying externally, except now if you don't get the position (you most likely won't) you also ruin your existing to role and get on the next RIF. It happened to my ex teammate. He had 4 rounds and our manager found out. He acted like he was cool but put him on the rif promptly.
Company policy states you have to notify your manager before you interview for any internal position. Also, the hiring manager will have a conversation with your current manager to negotiate your start date before you’re even offered the new position. So you need your manager on your side if you want to make an internal move.
@n0 I understood what you were saying to the OP. Unfortunately most people in leadership here are narcissistic and insecure and will make sure they either RIF or block you from advancing.
@n1 Most in the entire UHG are toxic. There are some that aren’t.
Make sure your resume is updated with keywords from the job posting and reword your responsibilities and duties to better match the listing. It’s not lying it’s just rewording. Do everything to get the interview. None of the rest matters. These people are cut throat so you have to be too. That’s what I have done and then I knew I would get the job if I got the interview. You really have to sell yourself as the full package. Use the words they want to hear and you are on your way.
@mz are all the female directors, Sr.. directors, in IY toxic? I swear I can't seem to escape. They are toxic to other women, other men. What is their deal?
@ag of you do that tell make sue you are RIFed before you land a new role.. happened to my teammate.. beware
@ds my evil manage found out and did something so I won't get the new position. She's the biggest cu-t I have ever seen. Now I am sure I am on the chopping block.
@jr Our leaders use AI to write emails and viva engage posts. You think being against AI slop is going to get them to like you? Sorry bud, we're not in the club. If you aren't a nepobaby you're a serf.
@ag i want to go where there is LESS AI
@ag Agree, I did same a month back. Some drama, but that was it.
My understanding is that there is no need to mention it unless you get an interview with the hiring manager for the position.
Just casually mention that you are interested in AI and ask any opportunities he/she is aware of. Then mention you are also keeping an eye open that's it. You can tell recruiter that you told your manager and you prefer to have them contact your manager only after an offer is made.
