For anyone who was laid off recently, how are things going? Is the market as bad as I think or are people finding work?

Network or Not-work....never been more true than today. All you misanthropic tech geeks who think a resume without soft skills is enough to get you a job deserve everything that comes your way.
Awful. It happened right before a devastating diagnosis and I’m genuinely considering VAD over trying to seem like the perfect job candidate to recruiters while simultaneously having my quality of life chipped away at until I’m just a shell of a person who used to have a career and a body that could move around without pain.
If Wells paid less than 80 not a bad mkt. if Wells paid you between 80-150 expect up to a 20% wage cut and 3-6 month search. If wells paid you over 150 I hope you are connected as long job search.
took me 4 months. once I was laid off I made applying for jobs my full time job. Probably applied for over 400 jobs. ended up having two offers come in at the same time. the job I took while making a little less money what I was at WF is so much better.
I get a lot of recruiters reaching out. Working at a small regional bank now and making about the same total comp. There are jobs out there. It's just a grind.
Moved to Nashville and got a job at *Bux. Former tech guy. I thank Matt R for taking all those pluralsight courses. Now I finally get to use them! At the WF clstrf>>k no vision... no design. Never seen a place spend so much $ on such useless pursuits. Can't get AI to do things if you don't know what you are doing in the first place. AI augments intelligence not replaces it.
It’s not good but it isn’t hopeless either. You may have to be creative though. As someone said, I looked outside of immediate market area. Had better luck. But it took awhile. Definitely consider pay and what you’re willing to take. I settled for a bit less (ended up being less taxes thankfully) but am happier in new role.
Bad. Looking since October. Found a contract role with a staffing agency that will likely lead to a permanent.

Really bad. Been looking since December. Nothing. Couple interviews but then ghosted. Or never hear back from an application. It’s bad out there in IT.
@OP I started looking right away and it took me 4 months to get an offer. 200 plus applications and lots of ghosting. I applied in multiple cities also due to willingness to relocate at my own expense. It was harder than I thought. If I had only looked in my former metropolitan area, I would not have found something. Zero interviews locally. Good luck. The right thing is out there
