Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

I've never felt this burned out in my entire career

I've been working long enough to know that every job comes with pressure. What I've never experienced before is feeling this mentally exhausted all the time. The workload just keeps growing, the expectations never ease up, and it feels like everyone is running on empty. I've reached the point where I'm looking for something else because I can't imagine doing this much longer.

@ge you say that as if it were charity and not the cost of business. The Johnsons don't give a damn about any of us beyond the extra profit they can squeeze from us. Those tens of thousands have repeatedly had the terms changed so that they are receiving less while being pushed to give more so the Johnson family can move up a few spots on the list of the world's richest people. Sure some white collar workers will become millionaires eventually but that's hardly unique to Fidelity. Employees are facing burnout, layoff risks, extra costs dumped on their shoulders, decreasing comp, lack of direction, and less enjoyable work conditions, while the worst job market in decades leaves them with little recourse. Calling it out should be encouraged and anyone simping for the billionaires instead should be ashamed.

@by the Johnson family has employed tens of thousands of people over the years and helped get many of them to millionaire status and beyond.

I get the feeling @g1 knows a lot about leaving people unimpressed.

@fm I understood your post fine. Some people need to learn basic reading comprehension.

@bh they also used to offer insurance savings with the Redbrick app and more reimbursement for BYOD and it was far more common to have food oro

There is still an increase at five years but there used to be an extra, extra week of time off after ten years. They changed it to an extra, extra week on the five year anniversaries.

@bh - they got rid of the extra pto for people who have been here 5+ years?

Dinosaurs rules and have a leisurely life while G4's and G5's will be burnt to the ground, the dinosaurs leach the money made by hard working sweat of lowerend vagabond workers

@bh - wait, what! how many weeks of vacation did the long-timers get? how far back was that?

I find it truly selfish that billionaires are not spending their money on curing cancer or doing something for society, but instead are figuring out ways to cut things that give their employees even the smallest quality of life.

@bf don't forget about regular layoffs and hiring freezes, the loss of an extra week of vacation for long timers, increasing insurance costs, parking in the street or shuttling because there aren't enough spots, share splitting, and a push to do more with less.

@b7 - it has slowly been going down hill since she took over - no shrimp at the Christmas, I mean holiday parties, loss of pension plan, buffalo chicken became "fit", no computer reimbursement, no more gym reimbursement, tuition reimbursement replaced by sh---y guild, holiday parties in the cafe, open floor office plan, musical chair hunger games, not allowed to use the guest bathrooms, RTO 3 days a month - to 5 days a month - to 5 days every other week, to full time RTO) - mark my words, matter of time before she takes away the profit sharing.

Dont forget the CEO blamed remote working as the cause for Fidelity losing its “culture” ….

Sounds like CE Custody who recently merged into Fid Wealth. Everyone on my team is beyond burnt out and the environment is so depressing. We’ve had 7 awesome associates leave and two Directors leave and no one cares. They just keep demanding more even though we are severely understaffed and big clients complaints are growing fast. Our mental and physical health mean nothing.

What changed ? It was full time in office before as well, prior to Covid . But culture changed recently can’t figure out why and how.
Noticed some incompetent leaders focused on cliques and other issues that is making it hard .

Same... 8 months ago I was relatively happy here but this year they have made things dramatically worse. Idk if it's because they want people to quit or what... but that's a bad strategy that will affect your employees that stay and as a result, your clients. The ever increasing job requirements are getting insane. Then add full time rto on top with lower pay... they aren't really playing the long game here.

Feeling the same- when you're not happy time to look for the door. So odd how the culture has changed so dramatically in a fairly short amount of time.
