Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Can Cisco Finance Legally Re-Goal Me (Blue State Located)?

I happen to be having a great year in sales and may finish FY26 at 350+%. Can Cisco legally re-goal me in order to reduce the commissions paid out to me? If so, can this be successfully fought through legal means? I live in NY State.

Technically yes, practically no. I've heard this nonsense for years. You'll be fine rock star. You earned it. 💪

This absolutely happens, and if you take legal action you might find yourself on the LR list (I have seen this happen to many sellers). It's a clause you sign when you accept your goal sheet. BUT if you can prove you didn't get a prorated goal sheet and actually did well, there is a chance finance can be persuaded. I would choose to escalate through the finance chain, since the FA auditing your commission likely doesn't give a fu-k. But their director doesn't want to pi-s off sales.

Yes - it’s happens more than people think, I’ve seen it 3x in the last 18 months to AEs.

Legally you have zero legs to stand on.

Read the windfall clause in your Goal Sheet and all of the other terms that state commission is discretionary and can be adjusted without justification or notice.

Cisco will not pay out major commission like many other vendors will do… fact. Culturally they want people between 90-130% of plan.

Read your goal sheet details. They have discretionary power above a certain % of attainment to give you 0. Not sure about re-goaling - but wouldn't be surprised.

Might be interesting to pose the question along with your goal sheet to Circuit to see what it says.

I've worked in Cisco Sales for years & I've never heard of anyone getting re-goaled in order to avoid being paid their commission.

Finance is an expert at sc--wing anyone doing very well. This is a well oiled machine. You can probably go after them and get a settlement if they do which multiple people have but consider your cisco career over after that.
