Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Is Dell fair?

Dell has a strong fairness result. Its median employee pay is $78,796, and its CEO earns 43 times the median employee pay. Dell also pays employees more than the profit generated per employee. These results give Dell a combined fairness score of 84 out of 100. The main reason for the high score is its relatively low CEO compensation.

@OP keeping his base salary low is a tax tactic. The lower his salary, the less he pays in personal income tax.

Fair, In some ways. Up until 2023 I thought it was fair until that was my last raise. The money in my department budget went to the incompetents that I would bail out of problems.

The benefits are a but better than average, But still no ESOP and RDU’s seem to be limited to a few perennial butt kissers.

@eg nailed it here. you cannot build a dashboard of 'fairness' without a deep analysis, tons of assumptions and a convoluted model that adjusts both in the middle and at the edges. it's futile, no matter how your rank people would be able to dismantle your model. looking at things like this are just wasting time.

“While CEO Michael S. Dell's total compensation was $3.1 million, primarily base salary and cash bonus, other NEOs received substantially more, driven by large stock awards. Jeffrey W. Clarke led with $25.1 million, followed by William F. Scannell at $13.1 million and Richard J. Rothberg at $11.4 million, with CFO Yvonne McGill receiving $7.2 million.”

That “fairness” measure is weird. Dell is more fair than Apple, even though Apple employees aer paid ≈2x more, because Dell hasn’t figured out how to be profitable? Hmmm.

‘Fair’ in business is compound and relative, and it can only be decided by employees - not a formula.

this is not taking account the perks and stock they are receiving, bonuses are not included too. yeah, 43x salary. whatever. add all other things you are looking at 4000%. it's a robbery by elites at every corner. they do that to u at work. they do it at the gov level as well and now it covers the entire political field, both left and right. and we are getting robbed by sending money outside of the usa as well. so, you and i my friend, we are both fu---d on multiple levels. we are the only ones in this whole schema who are doing any work. and we are spinning our wheels all while we keep dreaming about the american dream which has been dead since 1960s.
