Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Yeah get out because it is sooo easy to find another job right now. NOT! I have been trying to get out for years and have not found success. I'm sticking around because there aren't any other options right now and if eventually I do get laid off I will at least get enough severance to buy some time.

Not surprising. Isn’t that the whole point of being acquired by PE? They obviously weren’t profitable when they made the decision to be acquired be Sycamore.

This is kind of what happens. They lay off tenured employees bit by bit, outsource certain departments, sell off parts of the business, etc. there is a significant drop in quality and then the business has to show they are profitable by cutting wages towards the end of each fiscal quarter.

My best advice to current employees is to get out. Staples can be very limiting on your future employment prospects. Work on your resume, learn new skills, and network your way out of there. I promise you not all workplaces are like this!
