Matt Carr had an all hands yesterday. He said we need to move on from the laid off employees, was laughing the entire time and came off as an arrogant fat man. Not to mention, was complimenting women for looking good, super weird. There was a tornado warning alarm that went off and he dismissed it and kept the call going. He’s not fit for that job. What makes him a psychopath more than anything is that he promised no more lay offs but we all know that lay offs will continue. These “leaders” are clueless.

I recently started working with the operations group under him. It’s honestly one of the most clueless teams I’ve ever worked with.
Everything is, “Our leadership told us to do this…” without any effort to understand the reasoning behind it. Independent thinking seems to be missing entirely. Sometimes it feels like they’re just repeating talking points instead of using basic judgment and common sense.
The old hands may not have been the best, but he was one of the few leaders who made it a point to talk to everyone and treat everyone with the same respect and a smile. He genuinely tried to connect with his team at every level.
I do agree that he is very different from many of our other leaders—but isn’t that a good thing? There’s something to be said for a leader who consistently shows up with a positive attitude, connects with people, and maintains a strong front for the team, even during challenging times. That kind of leadership and presence matter more than people often realize.
I don't know anything about him in his current role. But when he was market president over the mountain area. I can tell you he was by far the best leader we have seen in that area in 20 years. ScoJ

@OP most of this is opinion based, and I won’t comment on those opinions, but a couple clarifications on the facts:
He never said no more layoffs. That’s false. In fact, he said what he should have - He is not aware of any layoffs but it’s no secret that could change.
He didn’t dismiss the tornado warning, but also, what should he have done? It’s a tornado warning, would you have preferred he sent you out into the possible tornado?

Completely inappropriate behavior especially for a leader in that title, screams who the heck promoted them. Hints of s-xual harassment telling a subordinate they look pretty enough while touching her on screen in front of HR, disgusting and all of his cronies laughed him on
Worst all hands ever. We just laid off team members and this dude is making fun of his directs and the audience for an hour... He's laughing at all his lame jokes and we are all on the call cringing. He embarrassed himself. Calls like this are a chance to inspire and inform. That call was a joke. Do better Matt. For real.

@ae They only investigate hostile workplace complaints to see if there is a risk for a lawsuit. If there's no risk, it's (maybe) coached and everyone moves on...except now they all know or can guess who complained. Retaliation is not a fun experience here. It's best to ignore it and move on.
When the CEO is a psychopath with an ego the size of Washington state, and the BOD are his coconspirators, what else can we expect from his minions...

@OP So sad. At least the AVP that led our call said the layoffs were painful and hard and the answer to the one question everyone had about whether there would be more, he said he'd like to say no but he couldn't do that because it wouldn't be an honest answer.
He's obviously not allowed to say yes but at least he knows better than to say no because he knows we aren't stupid.
