I am actively being recruited by other companies and been around 15+yrs. With the rumors about new layoffs getting louder daily, I am trying to figure out if there is a way to volunteer? Has anyone directly asked to be laid off? How did it go?

@OP i am officially volunteering for RIF, take me to your leader
@a4 yes and one of them (the one that is retired) even thanked the HR person and SD at the 15m TB...lol
Yep. Just made it known fine leaving and was able to get rolled into it. Best summer ever!
I had a friend who got a job offer around time of layoffs. He volunteered for RIF so he can get some extra money from severance. His wish came true and used the money for a nice vacation after leaving this hellhole.
I spoke with my manager prior to the June 2025 layoffs, volunteering to take a package if layoffs came. They took me up on my offer and I couldn't be happier.
I’ve known 3 so far, all were impacted in the following RIF, 1 in 2024, 2 in 2026. They all started with talking with their direct manager about it. More casual than formal, saying if there is an opportunity, I’m more than fine stepping away from Nike.
They all got their wish. Two of them laughed when it happened because they didn’t think they’d actually get a package. One of them is now retired, other is unemployed (taking a longer break), the other is doing contract work. All above the age of 50.
