There's no reward for hard work at Oracle anymore. The raises are terrible, nobody gets recognized, whether you're the best or just getting by, it's all the same. So I keep asking myself why I should even try. The answer I keep coming back to is that I probably shouldn't. Just do what's required and move on. It's not worth the stress.

Fun to read all the posts. Just got off a call with a couple of my friends who did not get RIFed and they tell me that its a sh-t show now. The dou--e bag that is now 'leading' IT (yes you A Moffe) just does not have the experience nor the cojones for the job... Glad that some of us who could take the hit and did got the package, we are so much the better because of it...
@cm yeah, I was promoted recently and the boss of my previous boss now will have a perfect opportunity to snub me, by saying I have to prove myself or something. well, I will know soon enough.
@bj This year you'll probably get a meets expectations rating and you'll be told that's a significant achievement. Some VP will have been told to downgrade almost everyone.
Probably followed by .... due to global economic conditions and macroeconomic uncertainty ..... there's no money for a pay bump.
Uncle Larry has bet the farm and we are all covering that marker.

It doesn’t matter how hard you work remember “everyone's a line item on a spreadsheet”. You are better off kissing a-s and licking boots of your EVP rather than doing any work. They proved that with the last several rounds of rifs. You just have to be a yes guy and you will survive at the dinosaur.
Gotta love all the "corporate slugs" commenting how they do little or nothing for their fat, bloated paychecks. I guarantee that a lot of Oracle employees who got RIF'd this year would love to take these slugs' jobs.

my motivation is very simple - fear
over 90% of my colleagues for the past 5 years are laid off and I keep for working more with higher and higher productivity for smaller and smaller pay
last year I got 5 star rating, org official recognition reward for the whole 200 bucks, which I didn't even bother to claim. 0 (zero) salary hike, so with inflation in mind they paid me even less as a reward.
Every single falls into 1 of 3 buckets:
1) You can go get a job at another company for more more.
2) Oracle is already paying you more than you’re worth.
3) You’re too lazy to go apply for a better job.
Shut the fu-k up. So tired of all this crying from people who have no accountability.
Learn a trade in your downtime, check local companies that aren’t desk jobs, read books, workout, do it all on their dime. I am so thankful that about a decade in to my oracle career…I worked about 20 hours a week and did whatever I wanted during the other 20. Heck. I wouldn’t even be home working and would do mini vacations at my gf’s place. My job wasn’t hard but I was good at it and could answer questions in seconds. It makes me laugh now. The people who managed my GBU made things so much harder and difficult than they had to be. It wasn’t until I worked with real tech pros that I realized how below average Oracle was….good luck.
I’ve been doing just the bare minimum or even less for about since the COVID hit. It’s getting almost interesting now to guess when (if ever) my bosses will figure that out. I had one raise during those years too and all good reviews.

OP, sounds like you answered your own question. Use the free time to find your next job outside. Oracle made its own bad decisions don't compound your problems by staying until they lay you off. There is no shame in saving your own a$$. You don't own them anything jump ship.
It is a culture that breeds and fosters mediocrity and mediocracy - Especially in the former GIU's - Sad state of affiars.
@OP Take the paycheck and keep the bench warm whilst you look for other opportunities.
It's the ORCL style, poor management, few raises, mid.managers not managing properly, silly tasks to complete, poor evaluations except if you're a real lap-dog for bosses.
If you'll have the choice to run away, please do it for yourself.
