The paranoia is real

When your manager's manager bails without warning, the gossip mill goes into overdrive. We've already got a betting pool going on whether it's a coming layoff or just bad culture. Either way, I've updated my resume and started casually browsing. Call it survival instinct.

Could be for a number of reasons, but if they were generally a good person and manager, it was likely due to some unsavory thing they were being asked to do like cut the whole team or most of the team. I’ve seen that happen a few times while working here.
