What’s the new promotion guidance? Do managers have some discretion or it’s all automated?
What are the main factors? Eg Is Outstanding (or Excellent) in consecutive 2-3 cycles required for CL promotion? Does it depend on current CL?

@dx I believe the advancement guides are based on the lowest of your most recent 3 years. So if you get E, VG, E, you would be treated as VG. This means a one year drop is way more consequential than a one year increase.

Automated since 2019. Supervisors just deliver the message.
Promotion guidance depends on a few factors:
YEE (year end experience, which is typically your age minus 18. Ex: YEE of 40 year old is 22, 30 year old is 12.
Current CL. Depending where you started, it gets harder to climb. CL depends on what function and what business line you are in.
Performance over 2oo3 past cycles. So if you were E, VG, E - your “average” performance is considered E
Function/business line. All of this is input into a sheet called “promotion guide” it specifies YEE, CL, and performance for someone advancing to the next CL.
Historically upstream, downstream, chemicals, EMTEC, and global projects were on different guides. I had a manager figure out that some people in our group were still career owned by EMTEC and had a faster/easier promotion guide than the straight downstream career oriented. I haven’t seen yet if a new guide will come out that covers ALL of global operations.

PS, there are exceptions that are used for supervisors to advance them if they don’t meet one of the criteria.
