Full 5 day return to office 9/5/2023

Following in Goldman Sachs footsteps. WFH only for emergencies, etc.

Why do these anti-science Neanderthals keep trying to push us into the office. Do your duty and stay home to prevent the spread of disease.

The world's loudest DJ was playing just outside of my floor today in Pittsburgh. So besides being shoved into a desk with someone talking in meetings all day next to me, I got to hear the sweet sounds of Bruno Mars even with earbuds in as we "rebrand".

Yeah the Innovation Centers LOL. Loud long tables laptops only and the odd monitor. Lots of talking and kibitzing and outdoor voices. Horrible environment to work and clients hear chaos in the background. Not a good look for the bank but they caused it.

How it this “very grim?” After a two year break in childcare costs… subsidized by the Bank’s work at home… no commuter costs, lunches in town, etc all should have quite the neat egg of savings. It was very easy to save with zero commuting costs.

Isn’t this really going back to normalcy with a 2 year emergency fund?

I plan on going in to the office every now and then, but nothing serious. I’ll work from home mostly. if I get some friction I’ll just put it on my manager. I’m prepared to be let go. 35 years here is enough for me.

Fine, have everyone come in the office. In Pittsburgh offices have been lost in favor of open floor space where no one can get anything done! So now, after a multi-million dollar renovations to the office, my group has about a dozen empty conference rooms at all times that are rarely used for client and employee meetings. But sandwiches people side by side at connecting tables who are frequently talking over each other all day long and frustrating everyone. Managers act like they don't know what's wrong with the arrangement! But those taking client calls and often making those calls from their desk instead of a private room. In fact, they do their best to take incoming calls or make outgoing calls from their seat and disrupt everyone who becomes their audience. To top it off, there is no privacy. What a joke! Doesn't feel like the employer of choice! All that money wasted on rooms that sit unused. Sometimes those commuting to that space don't even work in the market so they are taking all of their calls from other markets and could be much more effective working from home. If you think one size fits all and that no one can work from home, you're mistaken. Most of us are professionals and quite capable of getting the work done. In fact we are more motivated when we can make some decisions and have autonomy. Employers of choice will get this and those that can't will struggle.

For 2 years we were told to be scared of being around people….. now they are jamming us in tiny spaces like sardines.
No office supplies. No privacy or personal space. Noisy, dirty offices. & don’t even get me started on the bathrooms.

What's the April 10th change? Doesn't matter. My manager has "friends " who are not required to play by the rules, then covers for them.

@1ugq, seems like a wanna be BK manager telling us to act like an owner then treating us like children.

No, why would they be paying us GS Salaries , perks and benefits?

They’ll be paying us the same salary as before… the salary that we agreed on with any raises that we had along the way.

Children, you are going back to work despite the tantrum.

I don't understand what's the rationale behind that. I like being a few days in the office but equally like working from home. I think this is a great way of minimizing commuting stress, waking up a bit later and generally feeling less tired and more productive. When we were full time in office , I was always tired, stressed and I don't want to come back to that. If we go back to 5 days, I will seek another job, no matter if I take a pay cut. My mental health is my priority.

Honestly if everyone is actually going to have to come back, I wouldn’t even be mad. It’s just been frustrating that different groups are following different schedules and there’s so many different expectations. It sucks coming into the office when there’s just a few of you because what’s the point, but if everyone is coming back then fine. I just hope they consider giving everyone a small pay increase when the time comes because the economy is already insane so add on the extra money needed for the additional commute. They won’t. But wishful thinking.

Everyone wants things to be like they were pre-covid yet no one wants to go to an office 5 days a week lol. GET OVER IT PEOPLE!! Get back to work!! Do you realize there are some of us that have been ‘essential’ and in the office 5 days a week this whole time?! And you all complain about 1 day in office, 2 days in office etc. Meanwhile there are many of us that have been coming in everyday for the past 3 years while you all sat at home in your pajamas watching Nexflix. So annoying that you all complain about WORKING in the office!! Grow up!!

Sounds like conjecture at the moment. However if they try to act like a top bank while underpaying and not treating it’s employees like the top tier banks, people will leave at such a rapid pace they won’t be able to function properly as a firm.

OK, I’ll bite. What’s September 1st and what’s getting sprung on us on April 10th?

None of these rumors here ever seem to materialize.

Head of CAO said people can “ collaborate among large tables if necessary since we all have laptops”.
Then he slipped & said 3 or even 4 days in office.

I don’t put anything past these executives - 5 days in office is very possible.

Impossible at our site. We don't have enough seats for everyone to be in our office at the same time. Even when you count for people having the day off.

Its pretty clear our management always follows the lead of JPM, GS, BoA. I'm not even sure why we have a CEO and his minions other than to fill a job titles for Wallstreet. Not an original thought comes out of our CSuite. Just recycled ideas from recycled managers. So its back to the past, 2018 here we come!
Oh, and that one BMYM CEO wh-z kid that was trained by Jamie? How's he doing over at WF? About the same as he performed here.

It’s not a hoax. As there other tow posters have said, September is when it is happening and you can only work from home in special circumstances and only every once in a while; not a weekly scheduled thing any longer come September.

That is very grim. If it is true, and I pray it is not, they had better tell people asap so they can arrange childcare. It’s not easy. But they will probably wait until September 1st to say anything. Just like springing April 10th on everybody. Gee, I’m feeling so valued as a person.

I got the word for two managers. I only dispute the time period (very minor): I heard it was the following week in September.
