As an IBMer that has been laid off a few years ago. Has any one looked at reducing the big bonus that are given out. I know this is a pipe dream, but if it saves jobs, I think it should be looked into. Not only at IBM, but at all companies.

I always (and just did today) vote down the entire board AND all the compensation stuff.
Cast your vote! And, yeah, I take advantage of the 15% ESPP though still somewhat of a pain.

They LOVE layoffs. The stock goes up 90% of the time. So they get a bonus for that alone. Additionally a layoff is sickly viewed as an action to optimize efficiency. It's actually a high point of their yearly productivity review. So they receive praise for destroying people's lives. And then are rewarded additional bonuses.
They do layoffs to GET the bonuses. It’s an easy way for them to cut costs and make a ton of money. They don’t care about the peons and would never offer something so altruistic as cutting their own comp if it meant the workers might keep their jobs.

Did top mgt give themselves bonuses while lower-level workers lost their jobs??? Ha ha ha...surely you are not serious. If they cried, they shed only "crocodile tears".
I don't work for IBM but YES. Yes they will get their bonus.
My company too. They're laying off lots of folks but there is no doubt the exec bonuses will be paid.
Greed works like that.
