Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Picked up from @4uto+1lhtdq2A in the previous thread .

major changes in pipelines, some of it is driven by the regulatory landscape, other with a desire to modernize the infrastructure, both at bank and industry level, wouldn't be surprised if when all said and done, 20% of staff is axed. The settlement cycle of T+2 will shorten which will reduce the free money to custodians like BNY, tri-party repo will be hived-off as a utility, so hold tight and watch this game and enjoy the journey.

Yes, at least 20 years more. How long have I've been hearing that Mainframe technology is obsolete that it would be gone soon? Companies have tried to move migrate supposedly more modern platforms and yet most of the heavy lifting is still done by this old MF tech.

Do you know how long it has taken to get off of T+2? They have been talking about this for the last 20 years. This industry still uses Mainframe technology for goodness sake! Your prediction might be right, but it will take another 20 years to get there.
