Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Nervous about Mondays

I joined a team in ops some time ago. The manager is so toxic he used every single meeting with him to constantly criticise me and belittle me. I have been with the bank for over 5 years and never had to deal with someone this toxic. I have been a high performer throughout my career. I think he didn't take a liking towards me. He only focuses on the negative. This is really affecting my mental health. I am crying every day since i joined this team. I know HR won't do anything because he is in the DI council. Please let me know what I can do other than leaving the bank I really like. Thank you.

Sounds like my manager who is very toxic. It’s demonic to try to break you down mentally. Document everything and ignore what your manager said. Reject this kind of spiritual manipulation. Eventually karma will get the evil ones.

You aint seen nothing yet. Just document everything for the day they want to walk you out the door. I had a manager put me down as the guy to search the building in a fire knowing I just returned from ankle surgery. Another sent his friends home early and telling me I live close, have no kids. Why should I get to go home early. After returning from a different surgery that manager and another started to harass me over my steps recorded in 'get active' even after I posted pictures of myself going to the gym with a walker. Then another person gave me a hard time over my handicap parking tag from that surgery. After all that I finally got a promotion they put me in for 15 years ago. Just document everything.

Am so sorry to hear. Life is too short. After 20 years here, I ended up with a manager who was hurtful, demanding, demeaning and a liar. I lost 30 pounds (not in a healthy way - i looked anorexic) with all the stress, worry and lack of sleep. I kept thinking I could wait her out -- but it took OVER 4 YEARS!! -- so not my best strategy. I just kept my head down, mouth shut, did my job (despite the complaints and tantrums she threw) doing just enough to not provide any "cause" for termination.

Finally, I picked myself up and called a friends in another area to see if they needed a talented, capable high performer. (they did!!)

Is there any way you can look to transfer to another role or team? Pretty much take any role, while you start to look elsewhere? (either within the Bank or outside) A lot of people leave, then come back getting more pay and respect. (sad but true)

Are others in your group treated this way? If so, maybe at least 2 of you could go to HR? (I don't trust them on my own)

Apparently there are 1400+ open jobs across the bank. (a friend of mine just received an unsolicited email 'come join Bank of America" asking her to visit the career site and apply.)

You do what's best for YOU.

Obviously your days are numbered. Take pictures of your emails and report him to HR. They will work on firing you. Get a lawyer and find out if he is harassing anyone else. Then sue him personally as well as the entire company for failing to protect you. The company will try to settle. Make sure you have enough savings as case may drag out for a few years.
