Increased responsibilities and pay

My coworker left and I now have their daily responsibilities which a band level higher. In this environment of no new job postings, limited bonuses and raises, should I expect or ask for a pay raise?

Just politely decline the new responsibilities, and suggest they hire someone at the higher band and salary level to perform them.

You will continue performing your current duties as appropriate for your current compensation package.

Nope. Just expect more work. same level, same pay.

that's what they do.

You can ask for a raise or promotion due to your "increased responsibilities", but in the expense reduction environment we are in (due to law suit settlements among other issues), they will find excuses to not pay you. (sorry, but that is the reality. seen it many, many times around here)

You're better off saying, "No, I'm good. I like my role just fine." And make them find other(s) to do the extra work.

They will just sukk the life out of you.

You should never expect anything will be given to you without asking for it. (Besides work load)
