@2mey

Spend a day boxing the files and then enjoy your long notice period. What a great relaxing way to be let go.

Please stop.

You’re not being displaced.

You’re not having a pay cut.

You’re whining 3 times a day about a commuting change which the vast majority of BNYM would absolutely LOVE TO HAVE.

@2dls

Ok, that would be your aisle. 5 to 10 aisles might be considered to be a workgroup. Work groups over a few floors might be considered to be a small department. A department of that size, if all were displaced, would roughly represent a 0.01% layoff.

Perspective people, perspective. Your manager is allowing you a graceful exit over a few weeks to get your affairs in order without undue stress even as you organize work for a future team.

This is being handled so much better than the 10% per year layoffs from 2,000 to 2008.

@1zrr, come visit my department at Sander's Creek in East Syracuse. Oh, yeah, the whole office is gone!

Courtesy? So I can train my replacement, update procedures and box up all the old files that everyone else left so THEY don't have to make a trip to Pittsburgh? Some effing courtesy. I'd have been better off being marched out the door than dealing with the BS I have now.

There is no department that has been “completely axed,”. I call B.S.

Depends on your definition of department...it was 7 of us.
Area, department, silo, whatever name you want to give it....7 of us that used to be a group of 30+ will be non-existent as of 3-31

@1ffv A months notice is a godsend. Make sure that your home email is correct in HR systems. Make sure that your home address is correct in Voya from outside of he bank. Get the direct Voya phone number as opposed to HR4U. Voya has about 8 different email buckets for different purposes so it is a real fight to get it changed if you’ve ever changed emails. Easiest to simply roll it all over to a more professional company.

Set up encrypted email (“secure email”) and email yourself all HR numbers, employee ID number, external Voya password, any other needed info etc. ensure that you can access Nexen from home.

Once you are gone you will have no access to bank email.

Hopefully you realize how fortunate you are to have a month heads up.

You are a true winner

Amazing. Don’t you realize that your manager gave you this heads up as a courtesy? Back in the real layoff era (10% whack and higher) , the vast majority were surprised at their desk, walked out by guards and not even allowed to return to get any personal property. People began to strip their cubicles bare and nobody took anything into work beyond what fit in their pockets.

Notified Monday of layoff and HR will not provide info until month end. This makes no sense and not fair we have to wait. I wish I could tell clients to wait a month!

Having been notified 2 weeks ago that I'm being laid off as of 3-31 I wish I actually DID know more about it.....but worthless HR has been MIA. The whole department that has been axed has been ghosted by HR. Submit a ticket to request info and get an email saying ticket #blah blah blah is being researched.....click on the link and the ticket doesn't exist. Nice.

Not sure there will be additional layoffs as much as they will just make it so unbearable to work here that people will just leave. Gutless, clueless leadership is the cornerstone of this organization. More RSUs and cake please.
