Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Just stop it!

I'm tired of people telling me to be happy and grateful I still have a job when so many people were laid off in the past several months. I don't feel particularly happy working for BNY Mellon at this point. Due to cuts, I have to do twice as much work for the same pay as before. I barely have time to see my family and I have nothing to show for it. And you expect me to be grateful for that???

To be honest you should be happy that you still have a job. Your millennial primal scream of deep heartfelt anguish says it all… it says to YOU “put on your big boy pants, go out and work.”

You don’t like this but it’s exactly what you need to hear.

I worked there 20 years and always had meets or exceeds. Had surgery twice and each time I came back weeks earlier than my Dr recommended even though I wasn't 100% but I felt bad that I was getting paid and my co-workers were picking up the slack. A few months later, my position was eliminated. Lesson learned.

After staffing was reduced on my team and those of us remaining were expected to pick up the overload, I thought about working so poorly that they'd have to let me go (and I could qualify for Unemployment), but I decided to just quit because I didn't want the termination to follow me for another job search.

What I did do, however, was stick around for two months while I was trained on a particularly complicated data management task until it was deemed OK for me to take it over by myself....and THEN I quit about two weeks later. Hope they enjoy training some other su---r.

Hard work does not pay off there and I went through the same exact thing - worked there 16 years and quit. Either quit or stop delivering good quality work so you are graded poorly and let go or they will just move you to another function like they tried me. I actually left the week before they were forcing me to a new process no one wanted to take on. I will leave you with that

Just do the work at your pace. Don't deliver = below expectation = severance package. Isn't this what you are hoping for?
