Return of the garlic manager

The employee praise emails flowed like honey during COVID. Many people paid for upgraded internet service, spent personal money on office supplies, worked long hours, and generally stepped up to help their employer. Every single employee could have simply said, on any given day, "My internet service is down today, and I cannot work until it's repaired." It would have been crippling for any company. In fact, it would have been crippling for our entire financial system. There was nothing to stop employees from 'sticking it to them'. But employees showed them genuine good will, and they thanked them for it -- repeatedly and copiously. They came to employees hat in hand, and employees obliged -- like good people do in a crisis.

Now that COVID is winding down, they display their true colors. "Get back into the office! We are sick and tired of this insolence!"

Ah, how short their collective corporate managerial memory is!

Obviously, but it’s a really lame analogy. Virtually nobody would differ in their views of two very foul smelling roots that last for days after eating. The universal reaction would be avoidance of both people.

"Onion and Garlic" is an analogy, not a theory. Analogies use familiar concrete terms and images to illustrate a concept. It's not a literal explanation.

@3edi, no, spelling makes little sense so it's more of a left side art. The right brain people generally aren't as concerned about spelling would leave it to a spell checker that is 90% effective. Other than that, if their point is still conveyed, they don't really care.

@2hdw

Does the left side of the brain handle spelling?

Every psychologist that I know studied it because they became obsessed with figuring out their own issues… pretty much always unsuccessfully. If you need psychological help I’d recommend a good dog, regular walks in green spaces and in particular the woods.

And Doctors, I’m recommending the piano (for those literate in 20th Century literature).

@2zep, not sure if you've noticed the type of people who go into phycology but they aren't exactly known for using the left side of their brain.

Whatever Psychologist came up with this goofy theory is in the wrong profession. Both Onions and Garlic destroy your breath for days and have no real beneficial effects. There’s no personality differences whatsoever but both spices will absolutely destroy the entire open floor plan environment. Maybe people can take up smoking to mask the smell.

You all need help. You think managers are the issue. Clearly you haven’t paid close enough attention to your coworkers

@@1ljv+1m76PRXW Interesting read !

The psychologist said that onion people tend to be very hard on themselves. Onion people cause pain to themselves, but they work very hard to avoid hurting anyone else.

On the other hand, garlic people are never hard on themselves. Garlic people cause no pain for themselves, but they hurt everyone around them. They take no blame but are quick to place the blame on others. You can usually identify those people in your life that are onion people and those that are garlic people.

Take a good look around you and take all the time you need to think , do you notice a pattern !

It was pretty clear that while he employees held the advantage fora little while, the garlic managers could not wait for the tables to turn.

They kept adding layer upon layer of -Garlic Managers, rather than improving efficiency they resorted to micro management with these spans and layers. I am just observing how far they can go with these thuggish behavior, right from Pandemic lockdown to normal. The Government has started counting new Covid cases , the moment they announced 3 days in office, the viruses prey on those who wants to collaborate on closed cubicles.
