Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

The truth about work from home.

I want people to know the truth about WFH with all the discussions going on. I was part of a group that was asked more than once to move in order to keep my job. If you didn't we were told we would be let go. We'll some people were never let go and are still here. One of them was recently hired back after being a contractor off and on for years. She also was made a VP and works from home. My wife was recently diagnosed with multiple cancers. I am under so much stress for my family but I can't take too many days off. I can't do too many days out of office or I risk a call from HR. Well last week while working from home a joke was made in our work chat about me being picked as the floor fire warden. This is a reference to when a former boss picked me as the fire warden to search a burning building after I just returned from ankle surgery. While many try to pass this off as a nothing joke to me this was 16 years of never ending harassment that never stops. I went to work with no sleep that day from how much it bothered me. When it does start to affect my attendance, let hr call me. Boy do I have stories to tell. If you are one of the chosen ones wfh positions and title pop out of nowhere. Otherwise you better hope they keep you around to be a punching bag like me. The office is a ghost town and the bosses are lying to us. That is the truth.

I am in a similar situation with another company and because mental illness is a disability, get an accommodation form from hr and have your doctor fill it out and they have to honor it under the American with Disabilities act. There are about 3k people in my company that were ab le to get exemptions regarding anxiety and panic attacks and my wife has been ill since last August and I just recently came back to the office. Unless you are fresh out of college and want the sorority/fraternity feel at work, that seems to be the only collaboration I have seen is increased social activity with recent college grads in the office

Document everything. If and when they put their foot in their mouth consult with a lawyer and file a discrimination suit. F these douchebags and F RTO. It’s all a ploy to prop up their commercial RE loans/holdings as well as increase attrition. CRE is fu$ked and they know it.

I wish you and your family the best.

Also reach out to HR and ask how someone in GIS was allowed to move out of state to a location that didn't have a bank office and he is allowed to work from home full time while others are being forced back.

Agree. Had a conversation with an associate that manager was giving associates guilt trip for not coming in due to being sick.
No employee should feel that way when it comes to being sick or kids sick and they cannot come in.
Some of these managers barely work and need to be gone. But are too busy kissing backsides they are allowed to continue to do this.

I feel so badly for you and you must, MUST, put yourself and your family first.

For too many years, I worked diligently for a*hole leader (who is now one of bizillion "Presidents" BofA has) and it caused great mental/emotional anguish and health issues.

While I gutted thru it -- for more years than I should have -- it's just not worth it.

Please reach out to Life Event Services. With your wife's health concerns, surely you qualify for special accommodation and/or leave. (They do brag so about all their benefits!)

After gutting thru the horrible leader, am still with the Bank, but in a better place now, so it can get better.

You do you. (Don't worry about performance/goals. There are rarely repercussions unless the employee does something illegal, which does not sound like you.)

Prioritize your wife and family. Speak with your manager, Life Event Services and Sedgwick about a paid LOA.

Why don't you file for intermittent leave? We've had associates file for this type of leave to care for their spouse, children or parents.

Looks like you are working with a bunch of a*holes. I feel sorry for you. Have you tried explaining to your mgr regarding your wife's cancer? Are you being asked to RTO full time? Maybe try to bargain for 2 days in the office?
