It depends how much money you make. If you make too much, you will have to pay it back when you file taxes. You can receive SUB without filing for unemployment.

sort of.
First, you do NOT have to file for unemployment to get SUB. Someone I know that was close to retirement did not.

If you DO file for unemployment, then as a condition of that, you have to actually look for work. I think if you wait too long, you might not be eligble for unemployment, but that aside, you can collect SUB the entire time and not unemployment.. been there, done that

You get SUB, you apply for unemployment and get both.

No downside. You are entitled to both while you look for a job!

Let's answer the question rationally versus spouting Uncle Todd cr-p. The SUB payment is on top of any state Unemployment Insurance (referred to as "UI") one receives. SUB payments, as well as UI, STOP if one takes another job.....

It is appropriate, legal and ethical to claim unemployment while receiving SUB payments. Just take care to meet the job search documentation requirements, and deal with the state unemployment office bureaucracy to claim your benefits.

No, SUB is NOT unemployment. The Bank pays SUB on top of Unemployment, but you must first be qualified and file for unemployment. Severely confused @OP also mentions severance. Severance is only given to exco employees with contracts. @OP also suggests “U.I.”, which actually means “User Interface”. I suspect a newly displaced H.R. developer is first eating his own cooking.

Right now we are really missing Todd. He was well known for lending a helping hand to all. I’ve watched him help endless employees asking endless challenging questions such as “Anybody knows do they keep our paycheck here or their banks?”, “Why don’t I have an EIN number and “R these S.U.”s” paying me and anybody knows do they keep it here?
