Filling in her blanks, it sounds like a great employee was quietly and unceremoniously exited.
As someone who had a great career and a sudden, ignominious exit, I can tell you that’s pretty common at the company these days.
People I worked with who are tragically overpaid and weren’t worth anything are still there thriving. Abusive and inept senior leaders, same thing.
I’ve watched too many people shown the door who should be running the place.
Best for all to brace themselves for similar treatment or leave. Never thought it would happen to me. It was a gift, though. I’d lost sight of how “not normal” things were.
Just don’t delude yourself into thinking it won’t happen to you. It might not, but if you stay long enough, the tide always turns.
