What is wrong with you people? Do you not have a family? Are you that scared that you're willing to let them turn you into a robot that only works and sleeps? What the he-l, folks? You are not doing any favors to anybody other than those leeches on the top. Wake up already!

Haha. Todd’s nephew trying to make you feel guilty for working eight hours. Pay me for more and I’ll work more. I’m not giving this place anything for free…
And if the coworkers are OK, working 12 hours a day… So be it. Let them Get taken advantage of… Me, I have a life away from this dump. I’m here for the paycheck… Nothing more.
I feel like I’ve been on far to many teams like yours.
Of course your manager held you accountable for a 9-5 shift and pressed for more. Has it occurred to you that the reason that they’re working 12 hours a day is because you rigidly refuse to work even the minimum.
Your coworkers are working enthusiastically up to 12 hours per day, likely because you’re not working even 2/3 as much as they are, as you posted.
Of course your position remains at a lower level compared to your colleagues. How could it possibly be otherwise? Isn’t that fair?
I completely share your perspective. we currently have a group of individuals who dedicate extended hours, spanning up to 12 hours per day. . On a previous occasion, my manager held me accountable for adhering to the standard 9-5 schedule. Moreover, my position remains at a lower level compared to my colleagues because they seemingly exhibit enthusiasm for working prolonged hours (or creating such an appearance, potentially to evade traffic congestion) and readily embrace new projects. They are totally trapped in the corporate world.
I mentioned nothing about "turning it off". An 8 hour day is more than adequate to perform my responsibilities and then some... I refuse to jump at the snap of fingers when some perceived issue arises at 8pm or a weekend - not without being properly rewarded. The after hours fire drills (far too many at BNYM) never seem to yield improvements to processes and certainly do nothing for career advancement.
Instead maybe you should ditch the 12 hour work day - otherwise you'll never be able to turn off work. Your nights, weekends, vacations will be consumed by BNYM which is fine is only fine you're banking around 300k+ a year, or double that if you're NYC based.
@4wz
No, your answer confirms my read.
@4zto+ you misunderstood. I do my job (more than I can say for many colleagues), I am more than capable/willing to do more, but no at these costs
@4wfm, Usually it's the people who aren't doing their work that force others to be pulled into "special projects" and therefore work extra hours. You truly show your hand by spewing (in office) attendance equates to productivity.
I know people like you. Once you turn it off you’ll never be able to turn it on again.
You’ll see… it’s a well known behavior pattern.
Far better to find a new job.
@3ljf+1o6eKV2Z, sorry to disappoint but I'm actually Gen X. I'm not sure why you are so easily offended by my post. I'd love to hear more about your location/grade/salary to better understand why you're so offended and defensive...
Yep. It’s a culture created by inept & ungrateful, executives, and CEOs. They have nobody to blame for the culture but themselves.
You keep pushing employees for more while taking benefits away from them and you’re going to have employees with “poor. attitudes“
Just waiting to see what this comp announcements gonna be that’s coming out soon- i’m sure nothing good for the worker bees
In reading these posts it appears that Robin really has a challenge with employee disengagement. A toxic mixture of bad attitude, a hatred of coming to work after 2 years of fun and games,, low skill sets and a pervasive Gen Z entitlement mentality.
And… the Gen Z jealousy of our positive and effective H-1B workers. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Gen Z entitlement. The sheer fragility is astounding.
You’ll never grow into a productive adult. I know so many people just like you. Life is going to become very hard for you. The past will control you.
Tech hiring is on fire for anyone with full stack skills. One of the hottest Tech markets that I’ve ever seen. You can almost name your price if there’s a big project and you can demonstrate and discuss your skills,
So much whining here from employees who will NEVER leave.
You should leave. I did, three times, and each time they came after me when they needed my help, and always for a nice raise.
There is no reason to be a lifer.
Honestly I need the job at the moment. Not much hiring in the tech world.
I can take the long days, it’s my MD telling us we’re not allowed to take vacations that f$&@ing pi---s me off.
I know HR is non existent but this outright animosity toward employees is creating a lot of backlash.
Did you see the new policy of senior associate and above 30 day notice or the bank will sue you for recruiting costs?!?
Too many people are driven by fear which is no way to operate.
Personally, once the company stopped rewarding me (coinciding with my manager/mentor being let go), I stopped doing more than my job. No meetings or made up "special projects" that required effort outside of 9am-6pm M-F.
True. The brawn in TSG drive the brains in app dev crazy with their emailed forms and bureaucracy. Stacks of paper and email to accomplish anything new.. TSG is immune to any efforts to modernize.
@1fiq, same here. It's like doing puzzles all day. Although it would feel a lot better if most my efforts went to something productive rather than trying to figure out how to navigate BK bureaucracies. But slowly we've made progress on streamlining quite a bit and documenting and helping each other maneuver around roadblocks. So that is actually somewhat productive.
This dump is not even a small portion of my identity. It’s a pay check.
I work 12+ hours day because I want to commit a slow death su----e.
I like tech and I like financial services. Ive always worked long hours because I’m driven and I love a challenge. Work is core to our identities.

We are acting like the owners that we are since we all own a piece of the company.
Agree. & people working while on vacation…. F. That
