Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Oriskany is closing

Employees of central New York will be told that their office is being sold and that they can work permanently from home. The announcement is Wednesday, Sept 27. Don’t be fooled, this is simply another step in laying off the countless wonderful people who have given so much to this bank for decades.

Trust no one, especially not the two faced individual who will be coming from NYC and delivering the message this week. There are deeper plans to eliminate more than 80% of the workers in this and other smaller locations over the next 24 months.

More layoffs are coming in November.

The sad part is the big boss came to Oriskany and worked his way up the boys club ladder then he moved to the UK and doesn't care about the people in the USA. If I ever seen him in person I'd call him a sellout right to his face. I used to hear my wife say "oh my job is safe and in the next breathe he was adding more names to the list on who was getting let go. That was because he was making a bigger paycheck for himself as he laughed at the real people who did the work were getting let go! He's a piece of sh-t!! Bald headed id--t!!

Well my wife worked there for 33 yrs and she was supposed to have a meeting that morning well the meeting turned into we need to safe money. This bank is brutal they are moving jobs to the UK and India. The big boss actually moved to the UK sometime I believe early early last year. All the departments are basically reporting to managers in the UK. Also the people in India work till 5pm there time and that's it. They don't care and they get paid peanuts. It's all about the money with this bank as long as the big wigs are making all the money they don't care. My wife worked 70-80 hours a week and she was salaried. They just kept piling work on her and she was 2yrs or more behind. They only care about themselves and the bottom line. It's the worst bank in the USA to work for!! Sc--w them!!!

Labor in India is NOT "pennies on the dollar" It's quarters on the dollar at best even before adding in all the additional expenses such as additional onshore supervisors.

Once upon a time Oriskany, NY WAS the cheap labor. Possibly one of the least expensive places to operate in the country (And still is). Even by central NY standards, BNY pay was comparatively lower.
Leadership decided that outsourcing to India and exploiting their labor for pennies on the dollar was more advantageous to the bottom line and decided to eliminate thousands of American’s jobs in the name of profits. The sacrifices being the integrity of the oldest bank in this country and the countless families that are and will be negatively impacted. Shame on the board of directors.

Isn't that the truth, about the WFH and whips cracking on the ones showing up to the office like we are told we have too. It's suppose to be mandatory 3 days a week in office but some areas/people aren't even doing 3 days a month. Short weeks (weeks with a holiday and/or vaca day also), we are still required to do 3 days in office but others are only doing 2, including managers. And its the same managers that are telling us 3x a week, no ifs, ands or buts about it.

And the ranks of WFH continue to swell, while the whip cracks on those showing up at the office. All are equal, some more equal than others.
