Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Has anybody seen any HR representative on-site since early February, 2020?

I haven’t seen any sign of even a single HR staff member onsite for three years and counting. Why isn’t HR required to eat their own cooking? HR is living large, hidden behind their portal where they deflect any and all requests.

Understood that HR is child’s play… but still, it just doesn’t seem right.

Thought that the HR Portal was simply an AI responder to close the tickets. Isn’t it?

We don’t have an HR department. We only have a displacement process.

In the last 20 years we’ve never once received yearend goals before September. This has been consistent across three teams that I’ve worked on. Nobody even pretends that we have an HR department these days. HR’s sole remaining purpose is to execute displacements and creatively reduce benefits.

When you specialize to that degree you actually get very efficient at it.

You’re not seeing HR people because those smart enough to leave, haven’t been replaced. Those who remain are forced to pick up the extra work. It’s bad. There are no impressive leaders in HR.

I can confirm that Charlie sent no jobs to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh In fact was Charlie’s favorite target. For some reason NYC was protected by Charlie

@4uuv, no, charlie fired the HR guy at Oriskany right after they made him notify dozens of employees that their position was eliminated. We referred to him as the grim reaper.

Why would oriskany have anyone in HR working on site? Charlie sent them to Pittsburgh years ago

@3icp

So, in other words no changes whatsoever except the team name?

I’m in HR and just as frustrated as others. We were rebranded the people team but instructed not to actually help people and instead send them to a 800 number or Myhr for questions. It doesn’t make sense

Somebody needs to work a real job instead of hiding behind canned responses in a portal.

HR is way overpaid because Payroll is an HR function and they greatly overrate themselves.

Those who can, do. Those that can’t stay home and work for HR.

How come no HR people come into the office? This explains a lot regarding HR systems, HR responsiveness, DEI hiring, failing to get yearly goals until October at best, etc.

But my favorite is that HR has mandatory training on How to recognize SPAM and malicious emails. But every email that they send out violates most all of that training LOL

What’s an HR rep?

I am HR in the office 3 days a week. If you thin HR is child's play come and join the team see how great it all is (sarcasm). We don't get as much freedom as most employees on wfh. Plus remember we only do as the higher ups instruct us to do. The team I am on is 3 people to handle 20000+ employees..yep child's play. alright. The way employees speak to us and we can't say the same things back. I have enough of you all calling me names etc. Remember we work for the same company. Sick of you all thinking hr is nothing.

Yes actually, one of the Pittsburgh HR directors made her way into the Oriskany office on Wednesday to drop the ax (via WebEx).

Otherwise, no I have not seen any HR rep in several years probably even before 2020.

Let’s remember, they are no longer HR, they are the People Team. You know, the people that help people and do stuff and things, unless it’s an employee that needs help because they are clearly not people.

At PNC HR would only see you in person if you had a harassment complaint. Other than that, it was “use the kiosk!”

HR is to help the senior management to squeeze more from you. HR is doing the dirty works for the senior management for a paycheck.
