Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

New Notice Period Policy

Has anyone studied all the covenants and restrictions? Concerned maybe signing off on more that I think.

@6vsi, nah, it's more likely a university of phoenix grad convinced his boyfriend to go straight. Or he's getting nowhere with his degree daddy bought him.

Dude must have had a university of phoenix grad steal his girlfriend or something.

Dudes obsessed w/ it.

@6saz

I assume that might theoretically be true for University of Phoenix graduates and G.E.D. Holders, but any court in the land would find in favor of BNYM on this matter.

“The company has less money to less” according to the University of Phoenix graduate…

They walk among us…

@6dmm, apparently your ivy league tuition your parents provided was wasted on League of Legends.
It obvious that asking someone to attest to the fact that they were advised is NOT advising them.

All this for the elite 3k bonus I got last year ?

@1jny

So you read the clause where the Bank advises you to have an independent attorney review it, and you feel that the bank did not advise you to have an independent attorney review it?

Allow me to guess… assume that you hold a 2 year University of Phoenix Associate Degree in sociology?

@6zjq

Apparently this dude is developing his own unique calendar system. Doubt that he’ll get even as far as Suresh did when he “created a new Digital currency” and got fired for telling it to American Banker.

Suresh… the master of illusion, collusion and delusion.

And so… what keeps the timid lifer lemmings tethered to such a corrupt custody bank? I left many times and came back many times as well. Make your moves confidently. If you have good skills you should be confident. If you’re not confident then skill up.

You deserve better (if you skill up).

If not… you lose the right to complain.

@2kdf

Yes. It’s very common for NYC to lie about the bonus pool, but often some coworkers leak information. Yeah I got one and a damn big one. And I friggin’ earned it.

Don’t ever trust NYC management…, and this is the key, be ready to stand your ground and walk out. I did and. Nothing but good in my life ever since.

And yet none of the BONY lifetime lemmings are leaving.

No self worth or confidence for the lifers.

WTF is 2K8?

As I’m reading it I’m seeing a non-solicitation built in there, but not a non-compete. Am I reading that correctly?

@2hzk, you got a bonus in 2k8? I was told there was nothing to hand out and that they'd make up for it when things were better. Apparently, things never got better.

It doesn’t matter. I retired and followed the 8 week Good Leaver policy for my grade, cheerfully picked up numerous extra weekend assignments for coworkers, etc.

For the first time ever since 2000 I received no bonus. I was stunned. But I won because I never let the place change my work ethic and I no longer have the BONY nightmares.

I’d be happy to collect a paycheck while doing the bare minimum or less for 60 days if they want to keep me.

In a nutshell it started you have to give the 30/60/90 day notice and you give up your bonus if it’s paid during this time period. You make yourself available and continue to work and train people. They can decide to say we don’t want you to stay for the 30/60/90 day notice period at anytime and they won’t pay you for the remaining time. If you don’t give the advance notice you will not get your bonus (same as giving notice), they will take away your RDU, and they can take legal action to collect money from you because you weren’t around to train people and ask questions of. If you don’t sign this new contract you will not get a bonus next year and maybe not get a pay raise and they may decide they don’t want you working at BNY anymore.

This basically shortens the notice period and so the firm also has less money to less when they have to say bye bye. That is it in a nutshell.

Mark my words, next year in Q3, we will have 10% less staff (down to 45000).

What did your attorney say about it?

by

Post ID: @1isu+1osyIhC9

Yes, the agreement includes a lot more things than I anticipated. At the bottom of the agreement, it says you agree that you have been advised by the company to have an independent attorney review it. Even though the company most certainly did NOT advise me to do it, I sent mine to an attorney for review.

It’s a joke to be honest, but they have our hands tied if we dont . There will be consequences like it outlines from not getting merit to , I’m sure, termination for failing to do the requirement . They want a courtesy from us, but don’t give one themselves . This place has really gone to cr-p
