Oh, I think we have noticed everyone leaving (not displaced) as the article discusses. I’ve been doing the job of 3 people for a year now. I’m told we might be able to hire for the two vacant roles after 1Q 2024. They just aren’t aware they’ll need to hire THREE people because once I get my bonus I’m d-o-n-e!

If you stay in role for more than 3 years, your career is stagnating and management starts taking advantage. Keep moving. Trust your instincts. Just because you stick around a long time doesn't mean you're not vulnerable to a layoff. In fact, it might increase your odds.

It's not a bad strategy when you think about it. Those who drank the job hop kool-aid can be a part of that job-hopping herd and when they get replaced on a whim, they'll reflect on that one job they had where people were purposefully retained
