If you place an order for a new headset, webcam, keyboard, laptop, anything, really, BNYM will fulfill it, but they'll pass the tax onto you and you'll see a line item in your pay check that shows the taxes you owed. So far this is only for hardware, but I could easily see them doing this in 2025 for software too. It won't be effective right away in 2024, but I imagine some point after Q1 2024.

How are we even hiring these people who are so naive and uninformed? I realize that it’s mostly OPs positions but It’s frightening that they actually make decisions.

These people with whom we work will believe anything.
How can we trust them to understand their jobs when they fall all over themselves here and believe the goofiest post.
To the University of Phoenix grads…. You won’t have to reimburse your employer for any equipment nor will you be taxed on it.
To the people who manipulate the simple minded hires… shame on you. Find another hobby.
If you believe this, then there is no hope for you. King Regards
Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 162 permits employers to reimburse employees for legitimate job-related expenses deemed ordinary and necessary, such as a computer, monitors, printer, or internet service.
An employer has many options on how to structure home office reimbursement expenses, such as a stipend or reimbursement policy. What’s important is that it be made under an accountable plan, meaning, a set of procedures that ensures that employees don't get reimbursed for personal expenses.
An employer can reimburse employees for certain home office expenses through an accountable plan. The accountable plan allows employees to receive tax-free money for expenses while the employer deducts the expense. An employer should be ready to substantiate the business connection and cost of the expense.
Exactly! It's not being given to us to keep, it's a requirement to do our jobs and now we are being taxed on it if we need a replacement? Complete bs
Ge-z what team got the paycut for NAV error? How much was the paycut?
This can't be real
Considering an entire team got a paycut last year for a NAV error, I wouldn't be surprised.
Do you really think BNYM will follow laws?
This cannot be true
That’s absurd. Is it even legal? I just can’t believe the lows to which this place will sink. What’s next? Charging us rent for our space at the damn banquet tables they call desks?
That's crazy! So is that hardware then ours to keep if it's a line item on our paycheck? Sounds like it should be.
Dump
Well we’ve had to buy our pens, paper and yellow sticky notes here forever, so this fits right in,
Anybody knows can we deduct our contributions to the Bank on our yearend taxes?
