Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Quit if you don't like it here

Nobody is forcing you to stay at BNYM. Some of you are acting like you're being held hostage here.

The OP is silly - no one objectively enjoys working at BNYM, including Robin.

You suffer from classic BNYM lifer syndrome.

It’s a combination of:

  1. low skillset
  2. fear of the unknown
  3. lack of confidence
  4. psychological denial of the current hot labor market
  5. fear of interviews (they don’t bite)

One great idea is to be a contractor. You can rack up a lot of experience and quickly build a network. Most contractors also wind up with side gigs. Taking even a little risk will give you great reward. I never thought of myself as a BNYM lifer although I’ve worked here three times and twice worked with the Bank.

Your defeatist attitude is your enemy. Network with former coworkers who know your achievements. Let them know that you’re looking and ask for leads. Nobody is going to simply hire you out of the blue. It is a hot job market now.

I’ve quit and I regret that I have but one resignation to give to my company.

Wow that is a great idea, I never thought of that. Seriously?!. Yeah I'm looking but I know they are going to lay me off so I am patiently waiting for that to happen. I put a lot of time in that place so now they can pay me to leave.

Thanks, but I'll stay and continue to frustrate management by not being available to work outside normal business hours without compensation (e.g. salary, bonus, opportunities)
