I have been with mellon/bnym for 24 years and I am 62 years old. I am hanging on only for the SUB pay and unemployment . I beg to be let go....AITA?

Talk with your manager, maybe it’ll save the job of someone who really needs the paycheck (duh most of us or we wouldn’t be here) or who wouldn’t get nearly get the same SUB pay as you. And you’re obviously unhappy so that can’t be good for you - or those that work with you.

Definitely not the asshola, I would do the exact same. People have been loyal for more than 20 years, they should leave with at least a few months pay. The a--hole is BNY that incentivices this!

Just go talk to your manager , they will happily do it. They dont care about what people bring to the table - instead they will hire someone that costs 20-30% low and show it as cost savings.

Did you meet with a manager and volunteer to be laid off? If not, that would be your first step. No guarantees, but at least you’ve put it out there for consideration by management the next time there are layoffs. Otherwise, you retire on your own terms (without SUB, unemployment, and possible bonus)
