Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Sick Policy

Co-worker was obviously sick at the office. Next 2 days off line. Has covid. RTO makes people come into the office when they are not feeling well. Bank could care a less. Don’t be fooled. What is the sick policy?

All I gotta say is they better not expect us to work from home if we put in 3 days at the office during a natural disaster… “Sorry, I don’t have internet at home this week and I was planning to work from the office all 5 days..” since they think we’re not equally as productive when we WFH, they can’t expect it when it’s beneficial to their agenda!

This argument is a real stretch. If you are sick take a sick day. Period.

NEVER received any sort of “notice” at the Jax, FL site.. not in 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023.. and I KNOW folks who sat near me got Covid and had been in the office sitting 36” from me the day prior to being out on multiple occasions. We just had to assume they got Covid and didn’t get confirmation until after we ALL returned (yes, ‘all’ because we’d all end up sick days later). Obnoxious that they ignored it in FL.

CA is the only state still requiring reporting—that’s why you’re not being notified in other locations.

Seems that an actual “workplace excellence” policy would include “you’re not allowed to work onsite when sick and risk infecting your peers (who have immune compromised children and/or elderly family members at home). It’s such cr@p that something with the words ‘workplace excellence’ wouldn’t include verbiage that protects associates as much as it does leaderships egos (and desperate attempts to micromanage us in the disgusting open seating environments).

I have never seen a “COVID has been reported in your building” email. And it’s going around my building.

Agree. The bank gives mixed messages on the in office policy and sick policy. If I’m sick, and don’t want to infect others in the office, but I can work from home and not causing strain on my team, they still want me in the office for card swipes, so now I’m taking an entire week off. But if I am one of the favorites of leadership, I can do whatever I want and not have to follow the swipe rules.
It’s getting more difficult to manage a team when the site doesn’t manage the team leaders, too busy trying to be everyone’s friend just to get votes for the employee survey.
When in reality, the employees know what’s going on. The morale and work ethic is low.
It’s a day to day struggle to stay engaged.

You get emails saying Covid has been reported in your building?!? Don’t think that’s ever been announced in Florida office - they just pretend it’s not ever been a concern.

sick and PTO time belongs to you. TAKE IT when sick. inform your team you have covid symptoms or sick and WFH. Issues with that, you shut down and take off.

Yeah it's silly we constantly get emails that say "covid has been reported in your building, if you are not feeling well stay home" but then we have an in office policy that forces us to come to the office when sick.

The result will be an increased number of sick days utilized annually firm-wide. I'm one of the a-holes who leaves a bunch of sick days on the table every single year. No more. If I don't feel well at all, instead of WFH to avoid getting co-workers sick, I'll take a sick day and not work at all. So they will unnecessarily lose a day's worth of productivity from me. If it is going to be held against me either way when it comes to the stupid RTO mandates whether I WFH or not at all...may as well be not at all from my perspective.
