Layoffs were only a problem for the Boomer era. Todays layoffs are super rare and very small.

Right before they complete the quarterly report for the street, this will happen. Analysts will be happy as the bank is getting "more efficient" and you will hear AI in the conference call a few times. BK will go up. All the CxOs will be happy.
Average employee who got laid off will be rushing to change their summer plans and start to think about how to pay for upcoming college payment for their kids and may be their mortgage.
Average employee who is still there will be talking to their peers on what will happen to them and when. Manager will call for a meeting (if he/she is still around) and say we are done for now and say let's focus on our work.

People keep forgetting about the layoffs happening in the offices that closed. It is inevitable but the stress of not knowing when is getting to be too much. Right now I just feel like I am being used until they get rid of me.
It’s hard to worry about getting layed off here when there are only firings for cause for those who intentionally blow off Return to Office rules. Nobody is going to be layed off with a Sub package when we have so many employees who effectively decided to quit by not coming into the office.
Fired employees get no package. Layed off employees get SUB.
Why would the Bank layoff and pay Sub when non compliant RTO employees are fired without severance ot SUB?
I’m in a lot of these platforms meetings, and I hear a lot of people saying things positive about it when the higher ups are around but when they’re not - doesn’t sound very efficient…. but regardless, though cut staff to the bone.
@1hmc, that's great if you get fired from the bank of texas mellon. But either way, short of an employee quitting, it's very, very hard for UE to be denied.
June & September as the platforms restructure starts to show that anticipated huge efficiency.

@1yyu, you apparently have never owned a business if you think anyone is ever denied UE.
My team has had layoffs every single month. Teams around me (other departments) are letting people go for failing to return to office exactly as specified (even close isn’t cutting it). And if it’s the latter, you will not get SUB or severance or whatever you want to call it and you won’t qualify for unemployment because they’re firing you for cause (in their eyes).
So long as Robin is in charge expect it to be ongoing. And definitely if you’re in Ops. If your job can be moved to a growth center, it will be. That’s just the climate we’re in. They will lay you off and replace you in a growth center (or not at all), unless there’s just no way around it.

Yes there will be more for the offices that closed. I was told every other month. They will use us as long as they can before they have rid of us. I just want them to pick me already. The stress of waiting and not knowing is driving me nuts.
